Requirements	Permit required to construct, modify, repair or remove a vehicle crossing or the adjacent footpath — lodged through council's ePathway portal, normally processed within 10 working days. Application needs a plan of the crossing showing width and offsets to council and public assets (trees, pits, cables, pipes), plus written approval from any authority with assets near the crossing. Heritage Overlay properties and 16 listed arterial roads (Centre Rd, North Rd, Nepean Hwy and others) need a planning permit before the crossing permit can be granted. Council inspects the proposed location before approval and inspects the finished crossing and footpath; work follows council's standard drawing STD-401. Only one single-width crossing per single-dwelling frontage; shared crossings need the neighbour's signature; redundant crossings must be removed and the kerb and nature strip reinstated.
Council fees	Application $400 (non-refundable), as published July 2026.
Worth knowing	Street trees on the nature strip can only be moved by council itself, via a paid application — we flag any tree conflict at quote stage. Crossings built without a permit can be ordered to be torn out, so the paperwork matters here.
